This Raleigh Team USA bike was made to commemorate the 1984 Olympic team. And true to the American form - this bike is extra extra large.
According to Raleigh's catalogue from the time "most people who ride a bike will never cross a starting line, nevermind a finish line" for these everyday riders who just ride for sheer enjoyment Raleigh created the SPort Touring bikes series. These bikes are sporty but also ideal for everyday riding, for instance the frame has front and rear eyelets making it easier to install mudguards/bag carriers.
The Team USA model was the top model in this series and is made from Reynolds 555 steel (not seen too often here in Europe) and features some nice details on the frame such as engraved fork crown and seat stays.
The bike has been kitted with a 32-622 Michellin tires which are great for city slickin' where the extra width adds a layer of comfort.
